KS3

This is our plan for teaching KS3!  We are starting out semi structured. This is a journey for all of us so our plans and teaching methods may change as we progress. At first the list looked really expensive but by the time I had costed 3 years’ worth of school uniform and bus fare, it’s not as expensive as it seems.  After 12 months  (Nov  14) I’ve now updated the information as we have progressed.

KS3 Shakespeare Text Guide – Much Ado about nothing – £0.99 E-Bay

We found the English books too high a level, after much searching whilst Roadrunner finished school at a level 5 –  above average  what an average 14 year old should know, this only equates to a year 5 when using a private schools books ( it explains why the local council have been put in special measures, since they have decided that level 5 is good enough and they don’t do any more despite the local geographical area showing that pupils should be leaving school at a level 6).  So we have also purchased Book 1, throughout the last 12 months we have also supplemented with BBC Bitesize activities, spelling, grammar and punctuation books.  We are also undertaking a speed up program for those with difficulty with co ordination to try an increase fluency and accuracy of writing.

Spanish – Galore Park

So you want to learn Spanish Home Ed pack £49.99- List Price not yet bought

Roadrunner was definitely not keen on history, we have gone through the text book but not completed any activities.  Despite his reluctance to learn history I have found a medium that he enjoys DVD’s especially when there is a living history element, over the course of 12 months we have watched a few history films, seen the whole series Life on a Farm  which covers various periods, DVD’s on Auschwitz  and Andrew Marr History of the World, watched Anne Frank DVD  and visited the house in Amsterdam.
